SKETCHBOOK HABIT COURSE 1

(Online delivery)
3 x 1.5 hour sessions on Monday 13, 20 and 27 May 2024, 6:00-7:30pm

FOR INDIVIDUALS

We are running Sketchbook Habit Course 1 afresh, with 3 new live classes, new things to draw, and new teaching films for you to use 24/7 for the duration of the course. Use the course as a sampler, with tips and links for you to go deeper in any of these subjects after the course ends.

Session 1 : Rapid Sketch practice - Mon 13 May

The session will equip you with ideas about to how and what you sketch, restricting the time you spend on each sketch so you draw without over- thinking

The session will be made up of rapid sketches (each between 3-15 minutes long) so we can adopt a technique that is appropriate for the focus of our sketches, which will be alternately line, tone, and texture.

Session 2 : Colour Pencil Portrait - Mon 20 May

We will make a trial portrait, in four stages, working from the general to specific volumes in the face, using cool and warm colour. We will study several masters to discover the hidden passages of the head and how to draw them, then work from a colour image of a head, to make a convincing 3d sketch.

Session 3 : An introduction to Sketchnoting - Mon 27 May

We will practice fundamental diagramming skills as a means of communicating relationships between time, space, people and objects. A warm up exercise will help you practice thinking up objects, signs and symbols for representing situations or a concept, then you will go on to translate a familiar subject into a pictogram. Great lateral thinking fun.

Plus One

Sketching is great when you have a friend to share the experience with, so we have launched Plus One. As a free gift, your friend/ family / work colleague/ neighbour can do the course in real time with you, or from recordings by logging in together and sharing a screen. Whether your plus one lives on the same block as you or on the other side of the world, you have maximum options for sharing a sketching date.

Cost

We will be taking bookings between Thu 18 Apr - 13 May (12 noon). If you have any questions don't hesitate to contact us at info@drawingatwork.co.uk
